WEEK IN REVIEW

Wrapping up Madeline's birthday week (HAHA), she selected Ruby Tuesday's as her restaurant of choice. If you haven't had the guacamole there, then it is a must for you next time. It was fantastic and freshly made! Being that the cake was long gone from her party, we got some Handel's ice cream for dessert. The girls are BIG mint chocolate chip fans....stemming I believe from our Fletcher side ( mom's family). Meredith decided that she would "wrap" herself up as a gift to Madeline.

Madeline finally received our gifts from us highlighted by a new bike that actually suits her :) The negative of having a winter birthday... waiting until it is warm outside to get to use your brand new bike! What torture :(
Outside of the bday, the excitement (or anxiety) was my trip to Salt Lake City, Utah for a seminar. When we originally signed up for this it was located in Florida. What a bummer to go to winter wonderland during January, when we thought sun was our final destination. After getting some drugs from the M.D. , I am happy to report that I survived 4 flights in 3 days. *** Not without me freaking out.... maybe just a bit less! The Utah folk sure have a weird accent ... "Fargo"-esque. 'You know?' We arrived home by 1 am Sunday morning (after we begged the gate workers to get us off our flight that we get us home at 9 am Sunday morning).
We were told that there were plenty of elk, cougars, and moose in Salt Lake. If you didn't know this, I am afraid of the moose. Done laughing ? I have a recurring dream about moose in our yard and it freaks me out .... BIG TIME!!! I was so happy to not have seen one during this trip. Yes , I am serious, I don't like the moose! On that note, I am trying to catch up with everything that I had missed.

SAVE THE DATE: October 1, 2011

SAVE THE DATE!!!

Our family is walking in the 2011 Memory Walk - a walk that raises money for the fight against Alzheimer's. We hope that you will consider making a donation to a cause that weighs heavy on our hearts, especially this year with the recent passing of Grams (Betty Giehls). Once again, we have chosen to make this our family charity and will not be collecting donations for other events with the hope that you'll consider joining us on our quest to raise $2500 this year. We are starting early this year and hoping to have a huge team! With your help, last year we surpassed our goal of raising $1500 and had 10 walkers (or riders - ex: Lyla). Please feel free to pass along our website to others you know how may want to offer their support this year and invite them to join us for the walk. We will once again have team t-shirts made and information about that will be given closer to the walk!

Also, we would love to have you join us for the event on October 1st. We will meet at our house in Newport and host a brunch following the event...so if you are in the Cincinnati/NOKY area on October 1st...please sign up as a team member on our website and join us for some family fun! Let me know if you have any questions!!!

We are hoping to host a specialty event in the fall before the actual event and we will send details about that when they are available.

Thanks in advance for your support this year!

Another Great Weekend up North

Lyla is now officially 7-months-old. She is getting so big and is really starting to develop a great personality. She just LOVES the girls and I think Meredith was especially excited to have a matching dress for Madeline's birthday party!!!

Lyla never misses an opportunity to get spoiled!

WEEK IN REVIEW

Happy Birthday to Madeline!!! What a great gathering of family this weekend to celebrate Madeline's 6th birthday. The celebrations will continue through her actual bday on Wednesday. Afterwards, the gift overload will be over! Thanks for ALL the awesome presents. We had Greek chicken for the party and man was it delicious. Even better than the free batch I had won in late summer. It seemed to be a hit with the rest of the crowd as well. I think Madeline simply enjoys playing with her cousins at these parties. Her favorite part is eating the cake, but shockingly, icing was left behind. Gasp! "I don't like icing at all!" Whose kid is this?? Anyways, Edwin was particularly proud of himself for being able to go to the basement and play with the big kids (and his parents weren't even around!). He is getting so old! Lyla was just mesmerized by Uncle Matt's voice. Any time he talked (including screaming and cheering during the Steeler's game!), she would grin and stare at him! So cute. A little admirer is blooming for Matt. Meredith was incredibly excited to be wearing the same dress as "baby" Lyla! I didn't get the photo of it, but I heard Aunt Mindy has some shots! Mindy and I had purchased them from Old Navy at bargain prices ***there was no dress for Madeline...darn!*** Check out big girl in a little coat! (It was actually her coat that I use for their dolls now).

We rounded off the weekend with the Steelers' victory! Thank goodness, b/c I wasn't about to deal with moody Matt. HAHA.
