winter woes

The girls have had it with this winter bologna. They stumbled upon the swimsuit drawer this morning and have been playing swim club ever since. We are still waiting for someone to fit into that bikini bottom. Meredith's butt filled it out best, but still can't wear this in public. Ha!

Ice Cream

While I was making breakfast this morning, Edwin drew this...he was so excited. He came running into the kitchen to tell me about it. He said he drew me an ice cream cone with ice cream. Not only am I impressed by his drawing abilities (must have inherited these skills from AJ), but I'm more impressed by his constant selflessness. Since he doesn't even like ice cream, I know he really did draw this one for me...LOL

8 Months

Lyla is 8-months-old today. I can't believe it. I've told her birth story to a couple of my expecting friends lately and it still feels like yesterday. She is getting so big...too fast. I almost feel like I missed the baby part of her life, which is strange. She started eating green beans this week. She still has only 2 bottom teeth. She can roll EVERYWHERE and is great at scooting backwards. She can get up on her hands and knees and is starting to rock - but no crawling...YET! She is getting pretty good about sitting up by herself, until she sees something she wants...
Edwin is (most of the time) the sweetest big brother ever. Lyla really loves him and he loves to make her laugh. He loves singing her songs and showing her how to dance. But most of all, he loves telling her all about Batman, Superman, Spiderman...and the vast array of superhero/bad guys that exist.
I'm so blessed with the BEST kids!!!!!

Meredith obviously has inherited my tongue sticking out while you work.
This was one of those weeks where I had information overload! After traveling to Utah to get trained on the laser, I received some hands on training at our office this week. Firstly, you are sweating it b/c you haven't ever done this on anything but a pig's jaw (dead pig at that). Now , you have 2 instructors behind you and a patient that thinks he is a guinea pig (alive one). Yikes!! But, I got a few procedures under my belt with no harm done. I am certain I can handle this now. May still get sweaty pits though. :)

Then this Friday and Saturday we traveled to Cleveland for training in Botox and Dermal Fillers. After half a day, we were injecting into our staff. How scary is that!! But I did it. I can't wait to see the results (which won't occur fully until 2 weeks). The Botox portion is quick and relatively painless. We didn't administer any anesthetic for this day. The dermal fillers (for marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and lips) were administered definitely under dental anesthetic. The best part was watching a Nurse Practitioner struggle with giving the shots without any training. We had soooo much training when we learned in dental school. It stunk to be her (and her patient freaked out and almost passed out on her ). The dermal fillers you see immediate results as the material plumps up the deep folds in the face.
So to say the least, we are broadening our horizons of dentistry trying to offer more comprehensive esthetic options.
Who's ready to get their wrinkles reduced? HAHA.

Goodbye Tucson
Posted by
Mindy
We arrived in Tucson on Feb 5 just in time to go out to dinner for my 32nd birthday. We stopped at the grocery on the way to my grandparent's mobile home...to be honest, I was stalling because I couldn't imagine going there without them being there.
When we finally got to the house, I was right. It was too quiet - no computer, no tv, nothing. I looked around and immediately felt extreme anxiety...how in the world would we get everything packed? How in the world am I going to take over Fun With Rocks and know what to do?
Well, it all worked out. It was a L-O-N-G week with lots of ups and downs. Thank God my dad, Tiffany, and Emma (Dave's cousin) were all there to help. We packed more than 200 boxes to ship home and I completed my first rock show without Paps. It was so bittersweet...and the one thing I know is that I'm so excited to do more. I've already signed up to do the Cincinnati Gem Show in May...
When our plan left Tucson on Feb 14th - it was hard to keep smiling. It feels so strange to say goodbye to Tucson...hopefully I'll make it back there...but for now, at least I have some awesome memories!!!

Happy Valentine's Day weekend!
Megan and Chris came for a visit 2 weekends ago. This means there was A LOT of board games played, Easy bake Oven goodies made, and Just Dance action to be had. So fun. They were completely exhausted after this high energy activity. Megan took great video of Meredith dancing on her phone. I can't wait until she uploads it to YouTube :) We think Meredith is channeling Elaine Benes. ***we won't even mention the Super Bowl events since we all know how that turned out*** Madeline had her 100th day of school celebrated by dressing as a 100 y.o. lady. Using some of Grandma Patty's jewelry and purse, we were able to make an unrecognizable Madeline (she had rolled down knee highs to top off the outfit). Our art projects for this week were the ever popular Valentine's Day boxes. I heard that you could go to Big Lots and buy premade ones, but I would feel pretty guilty doing that. I am a creative person who can help the girls out, there is no excuse to do that at this point.

5 weeks...16.6 lbs GONE!
Posted by
Mindy
After 5 weeks on Weight Watchers, I'm down a total of 16.6 lbs.
I had a great weigh in last night (down 3.8) and needed the boost of encouragement for my upcoming 10-day trip to Arizona. It is going to be a stressful and emotional trip. The kids and Dave are staying home...it will be my first overnight trip away from Lyla and my longest time away from Edwin so far...not looking forward to that part...
