Happy Halloween!!!

We had a full day today. Edwin had his preschool party and costume parade and his last day of soccer. He got to play goalie today and LOVED it! Watch out Uncle Matt...looks like you have someone to practice with on our trips up north! Then it was home for Trick-Or-Treat. Grandma Nikki and Grandpa Mike joined us for chili dinner and a trip around our neighborhood. It had the perfect number of houses for Edwin and we had great weather...so it all worked out and was a fun day/night. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

We've had lots of Halloween activities these past few days. Madeline's school parade and party,

neighbor's costume party,
pumpkin carving,

and tomorrow trick or treat and party for Meredith. These costumes got their use out of them this year (and thank goodness Madeline's has survived despite being WHITE). :) Have a great Halloween!!

Making Lyla Laugh

New Tricks from School

Edwin is constantly bringing home great artwork and new phrases that he's learned at school. Today - these were a few of his new tricks that he couldn't wait to share!

Edwin and Soccer

Next week is Edwin's final week of soccer. I think he's doing a great job and he LOVES to practice. He knows how to dribble, trap, pull-back, jump over the ball, pass with the inside of his foot, and of course score...not too bad for a few weeks!!! I think Uncle Matt would be proud!

WEEK IN REVIEW

The girls and I recently got our flu shots. I didn't have any symptoms after mine, but as usual , the girls were sniffly messes after their "mists". I was the one wiping their noses. Hmmm, coincidentally(?) I get flu -like symptoms 2 days after that. I have been sick for a week. Man, I hope this clears me for the season. (fingers crossed!). This would be the reason for no blog last weekend.
Last Friday, I looked out my window to find this:
I was given no warning about them coming, but there they were! The water co. digging up our yard . Conclusion: It is our responsibility to replace the water pipe from our house to the sidewalk. It must be constricted. Oh thank you, and goodbye. So we play the waiting game of getting a quote. Boo!
Today, is a beautiful October weather day ....to do....YARD WORK!! Hip Hip Hoor-NOT! But when we waited this long to mow the grass, pack up the patio furniture, do leaves, clean the garage, I guess we are more than fortunate to have a warm , sunny day to get it done. Thank you Mother Nature .
The girls were more than excited to spend the afternoon outside to allow Matt and me to clean. We ALMOST got everything done today, but that darn Steelers game kickoff came sooner than we expected. HAHA. Here are some leaf fun pics.

Lyla 16 Months

Lyla had her well baby 15-month check up at the doctor last Friday...since I was a month behind getting her to the dr, I thought I'd post her stats for her 16-month update. 16-months - can you believe that? Lyla is getting pretty good on her feet these days. She is basically running everywhere. One of her favorite things to do is try to jump. Her feet never leave the ground, but she cracks up trying! She loves to dance and she is really starting to try to talk. Words I've heard - bowl, up, cup, down, dog, mama, and dad. She can roar like a lion, meow like a cat, bark like a dog and she is great at following directions (ex: get mama a diaper, put this on the table, bring me a book, etc). Of course, she is also 16-months, which means frequent melt downs and drama that only a girl can provide.

Stats:
Weight: 27 lbs 7.5 ozs (95%)
Height: 30" (35%)

carving night

Grandpa Randy took Edwin to Carving Night at his school and they had so much fun. They brought home this beautifully carved pumpkin (which Grandma Nikki and Grandpa Mike let Edwin pick out a few weeks ago) and Edwin was so proud. THANKS Grandpa Randy!

Rockshop Progress Update

This weekend I got my first load of rocks to the rockshop...OMG! Overwhelming is an understatement. I can't believe this is only a 1/3 of what is to come...I worked all day yesterday and these are some progress shots...more to come. My first craft show is on October 29th...can't wait!!!

When is Halloween???

"Is it Halloween YET????"

It can't come soon enough for two kids who love dressing up!!!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Randy!

Edwin asked to make a cake for Grandpa Randy's birthday. He thought he needed a party...So, here it is...X MARKS THE SPOT was Edwin's theme idea! Too fun!

Edwin's First Field Trip - Blooms & Berries

Today I went with Edwin on his first field trip! We went to Blooms & Berries. Edwin picked a bumpy pumpkin for him and couldn't leave the patch without picking a baby pumpkin for his sister...he has all of the other moms (and teachers) thinking he is the sweetest and cutest boy around. I think they're right...and I also think it has something to do with the fact that he is so tiny and sensitive.

It was a perfect day for a field trip for a few reasons. The weather was AMAZING and Dave was off work for Columbus Day...so I didn't have to find a sitter for Lyla. After our field trip, we picked Dave and Lyla up and went to watch Edwin play soccer. Since he plays on Mondays after school, Dave hasn't had a chance to see him in action...so this was another PERFECT chance to make that happen. Edwin was so excited to show Dave his skills! They've been practicing in our front yard for a couple weeks now and it is really starting to pay off!

WEEK IN REVIEW

Talk about some nice weather!! I didn't think we would need our shorts again this year, but I was wrong . We had to go digging for the girls sandals, too. The weather totally cooperated with our plan to Whitehouse Fruit Farm on Saturday with Papa and Deb. YAY! Deb had just been in New Orleans for work, but remembered to get a souvenir for the girls. I love them!
We succeeded in our pumpkin selection, however, there were some really warty, and popcorny looking ones this year. Yucks! The girls were thrilled to get a lemon shake while we were there. To entertain the kids, a baby Alpaca, turtle, ponies, pig, and turkeys were at the petting zoo.
Madeline was most impressed by the caterpillar. You enter its nose
and exit its butt. How gross!
We continued our busy day with the purchase of the kids' Halloween costumes. Madeline selected a Sailor girl. Meredith will be Snow White (Lucia was her the last year; I wonder if that has anything to do with it). If only Trick or Treating could be on a day like this!
