20 weeks down - 20 weeks to go (or not)

so I remember when I was prego with Edwin thinking I'd be prego for the full 40 weeks or probably longer since he was my first. I was expecting the worst labor/delivery...but was pleasantly surprised. In less than a day's work...at 39 weeks...Edwin was born...reminder - water broke at 7:30am and he was born at 3:33pm.

so, then #2 came...and I thought now I'm going to get it...it is going to be my bad story...LOL...but one evening after my 38 week check up Lyla was born. Got to hospital around 6:30pm and she was born at 9:11pm.

so, now I'm 20 weeks and wondering...will this be my LONG CRAZY LABOR/DELIVERY STORY and all I can do is hope that this baby boy follows suit...LOL

20 week dr appointment today and all is well. Let's see how the 2nd 1/2 goes...

WEEK IN REVIEW

Firstly, we hope that Uncle Dave had a great birthday!!!!
We are so excited that we had fantastic weather this last week. The stir crazy girls can now burn off major energy outside! YAY. They are getting even better learning to ride their new bikes. We found Madeline a couple of times trapped under the bike (even had a necklace caught around the pedal, pinning her down....oh so clumsy!).
Saturday, we had a baby shower for Nanny Karen's daughter, Angie. I did a good job coordinating with the girls' outfits this time. HAHA. They were the big helpers during present opening time. They obviously take their jobs seriously! The girls barely moved a muscle as they held open that garbage bag.
That night we celebrated St. Patrick's Day, Chris's birthday, and his Graduation. He didn't have a traditional ceremony, but Megan received his diploma in the mail. She wrapped it up and surprised him with it and a graduation cap accompanied by Pomp and Circumstance playing on her phone. HAHA.
Papa and Deb came over for the traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner. It turned out great!

I had made 2 crockpots so leftovers could be guaranteed :) Of course, we had to have the girls change into their St. Patty's shirts (courtesy of Grandma). Too cute!

Snuggles

This morning Edwin woke up around 7am for two reasons. 1)our garbage truck comes early and is LOUD! 2)once he wakes up, he has to go to the bathroom

Edwin still won't come out of his room (or out of his bed for that matter) without me coming to tell him it's okay...expect for the couple of rare times he's heard "me" calling him to come downstairs in the middle of the night or "someone" offering to share their cereal early in the morning??!!!!???

I think (at least I like to tell myself) that he loves me coming in and getting him up. He almost always comes in and snuggles with me until Lyla wakes up and it is some of our most precious conversations. Today he told me that he'll love me forever...and he stole my heart again...he is the most sensitive little man...

He thrives on making me proud of him and today while I got ready for work he asked if he could play legos in his room. I said sure and I was listening on the monitor to him singing and playing...after about 10-minutes he came back in my room to tell me he wanted to show me something - a surprise...I assumed it was another Lego creation - he's getting pretty good with building rockets/cars/etc...I went to his room and saw what he had been doing - not playing, but CLEANING...he cleaned his room to make me smile...his words, not mine.

I have to admit that I think he's awesome...Lyla is crazy and I'm beginning to think it isn't JUST A PHASE...so I'm having to reevaluate my parenting style with her...but with Edwin - we get each other. The more crafts/activity books/reading/etc time the better and I'm hoping our snuggle time continues for a long time...

Drumroll Please...

I'm having trouble finding the words to express how thrilled I am to announce that we are having another BOY!!! We decided to try something different this time and find out during our ultrasound and there was no question...see for yourself below! LOL

Of course, I'm not sure why I questioned it...Edwin has been telling us about his Baby Brother since we first told him we were expecting. When we got home to tell him the good news, he acted like we were crazy for not believing him in the first place.

Now my mind is racing...we are at 18-weeks this week (already). Time seems to be moving so fast. I have a to-do list that has just grown quite a bit...let the shopping begin! Can't wait!!!

Thanks in advance for your continued prayers for a healthy pregnancy and a wonderful labor/delivery like our previous two...

Baby #3 Update

I made the comment and Dave agreed...I LOOK PREGNANT...here we go!!!

16 weeks tomorrow...feeling the ever light flutters of Baby #3...forgot how cool that was.

Parent Conferences

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with Edwin's preschool teachers for his FIRST parent conference. I must say I really love his teachers...and so does Edwin. They said Edwin is so much fun. They commented numerous times about his funny personality. They said he loves to tell stories and make the other kids laugh. He is friends with everyone. He is social. He is smart. He is a very creative with his artwork. He loves music class. He enjoys dancing. He has a great memory. He listens to directions. Basically, everything we already knew - HE IS PERFECT...LOL...that is me talking...

The only thing they said he didn't do well is basic sorting...but they were quick to reassure me that it wasn't because he can't...it was because he didn't want to. This early math skill isn't the most important for him to demonstrate mastery so they aren't concerned...in fact, they thought it was funny that he will do complex pattern exercises and can write AND identify numbers 1-10 and he won't sort objects...hahaha...too basic I guess...

It was a little strange being at a parent conference for Edwin. I have been looking at the baby pictures of he and Lyla so much lately wondering what #3 will look like...and I can still remember those moments like they are yesterday. He asks me what he was like when he was a baby...I think he's trying to prepare himself for a baby in the house. And, then I go to a parent conference and remind myself that my little man is sure growing up to be an AMAZING BIG BOY...I hope he continues to impress me, his peers, and most importantly himself with his abilities...I have no doubt God has a special plan for this one!!!!
