OK, an escalator already provides a quicker method for climbing a flight of stairs due the fact it moves the stairs upward for you. Why must people take double advantage by refusing to move entirely upon getting on one?
Acceptable excuses for standing still on an escalator, you're...
1. handicapped/disabled
2. elderly
3. injured
4. carrying something heavy
Otherwise, keep moving. I've got somewhere to be.

you might have somewhere to be, but I have somewhere to not be, so deal with it.
My excuse is that I don't have to move for 30 seconds, and my lazy shopping butt enjoys every bit of those seconds.
I'm TIRED!!!
and...does Edwin count as something HEAVY????
