Easter Bunny Express

Today was BUSY BUSY BUSY as we celebrated Easter.

We had tickets to ride the LM&M Railroad for the Easter Bunny Express. I assumed Dave knew that we would board the train in downtown Lebanon, but I was wrong. I wanted to leave the house by 9am (train to depart at 10am and we had to pick up our tickets from will call)...but as usual, I couldn't find anything to wear and packing Edwin's all day diaper bag proved to be harder and take more time than I estimated...so we didn't leave our house until approx 9:15am. Around 9:30am (still 25 mins from our destination), I asked Dave "what if we miss the train?" and this is when I explain to him our boarding location...needless to say Dave's 80mph (but completely SAFE) driving got us there with 4 mins to spare...wow!

Edwin was so excited to ride on the train. It was a 30 min ride out to the Bunny Patch. We were waiting for the train to speed up...as my only other train experience has been the European Light Rail...but it never did. Most could've ran faster than the train moved...Dave probably could've walked faster...but Edwin loved it! He watched out the window so focused...pointing out everything that he noticed along the way.

We arrived at the Bunny Patch and exited the train to go on the Easter egg hunt and stand in line to see the Easter Bunny. Edwin found his eggs (each kid was limited to 5 eggs) right away and made his way to the swing set. Dave helped him swing for a minute - but there were so many other kids, it was a quick ride. When Dave wouldn't let him play on the slide, rock wall, etc he had a minor meltdown...but look at his Easter outfit...we didn't want it dirty for the rest of our BUSY day!!!! We finally got him calmed down as we waited in the Easter Bunny line. He was excited UNTIL we went in the bunny house...and then - "NO!" he was not going to sit with the bunny...so mama got a special Easter picture too! Oh well, still cute. Edwin was all business with the bunny. He gave him a high-five, told him thank you for the small stuffed bunny surprise and wished the bunny a Happy Easter (just like Dave told him to do). He was very proud of himself and talked about it the rest of the day.

After our 45-minute layover, it was time to get back on the train and head back to the station. The conductor told Edwin that he was the best dressed boy on the train...I must admit that I agreed!!!! We got Edwin to sit back down by promising a special snack - POPCORN!!! Yum...Even after we dropped half in our seat, Edwin had plenty and enjoyed every piece - of course in LITTLE bites!!!

After our train adventure, we stopped by Pappaw Randy and Tiffany's to wish them a Happy Easter. Edwin was thrilled to show them his stuffed bunny from the Easter Bunny and even more excited that the Easter Bunny had left him another basket of goodies. Obviously the biggest hit from the basket was a bag of plastic dinosaurs...

Then, it was off to Mammaw Nikki and Pappaw Mike's for Easter lunch. AJ was there too...along with Steve, Grandma Joyce, Great Grandma Shirley and Ruth. Of course Edwin was the big winner here too. He got a wheelbarrow full of stuff, items from AJ, and a bag of goodies from Great Grandma Shirley! Another Easter egg hunt - his favorite eggs had money in them!!! Too funny! My Aunt Chrissy gave Edwin a sandbox to keep at Mammaw's house...and of course Mammaw already had it filled with sand - even some colored sand...so he had to use his prize shovel to dig. Aunt Chrissy also gave him a wagon...THANKS to her...he loves these new play items!

Needless to say, it was one of the longest days Edwin has had in a long time...and he was a mess. In and out of sleeping/crying/and asking for mama's hand the whole way home...but he made it and overall, he was a good boy all day long!

He's got one more Easter basket to go...the Easter Bunny comes to Newport tonight...that is IF I feel like digging out his basket from our wreck of a basement. I might just give him his stuff...he sure doesn't care...
