WEEK IN REVIEW

Madeline had her Easter program at school this Wednesday AND she did her one line speaking part!! She did a great job speaking clearly and slowly. The only negative thing was the microphone hidden amongst the back row. We couldn't see her talking! She was so proud of herself though.Friday we had Aunt Ginny and Claudia over for some Easter egg coloring. Meredith was a egg dyeing machine! Madeline dropped one egg onto the floor and quickly exclaimed, " it didn't break, it didn't break!". Get real, it broke all right! Saturday we decided to undertake 4 big shrub removals on the side of our house. To say the least, Matt and I are VERY sore. It sure did open up the side of the house and will be a perfect spot for a vegetable garden. The girls were so good while we did the work. They drove around in their Barbie Jeep pretending to be mother/daughter on a shopping trip.
We hosted Easter dinner on Sunday after church. The girls looked so cute in their Easter bonnets and matching dresses. We had lots of food and great weather! Half the crowd ate outside on the deck. I made my first homemade carrot cake which I think turned out quite tasty :) Jill and David hid a bunch of Easter eggs for a hunt for the girls. Meredith was nervous about it at first until Aunt Betsy volunteered to help her out.
The girls did a fairly good job locating their hidden baskets from the Easter Bunny . They got even more "baskets" from Papa and Deb, Grandma, Nanny Karen , Aunt Ginny, Mindy and Dave etc. Meredith's favorite gift came from Papa and Deb ... Nick Jonas's CD!!! She stared at it adoringly for a long time (***Matt had to put it away so that she could focus on something else***). She just kept pointing at it grinning, "He's so cool!". Madeline was thrilled with her Hannah Montana DVD as well!!
And to top it off, Mindy and Dave sent them a Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana wallet purses. Too funny!
Ok, so here is today's excitement. I was at work. The garbage truck came early in the morning. The girls notice that our can is stuck on top of their truck. That's weird, but Matt thought nothing of it. They go downstairs to play in the basement and hear a bang at the door. The garbage men are still here! They inform us that their hydraulic line burst and sprayed our yard. Ok? Matt notices that he is nervous. The garbage man further explains that the fluid is probably going to kill our yard. YIKES! It ends up that the manager wants to have a sprinkler in our yard to dilute this vile liquid (** hoping it will not kill our yard**) . I get home this afternoon after receiving all this lovely commentary from Matt. The garbage company is again in our yard installing ONE sprinkler. Really? Like one sprinkler is going to do the trick here. We had to point out to the men that the hydraulic fluid was sprayed all over the siding, windows, bushes, trees, etc from left to right! I can hardly believe the force of that spray. The manager then informs us that he is going to have to submit this all into the insurance company b/c it will probably kill our grass and landscaping . Ugghh! Not to mention that they will need to pressure wash the front of the house. If it ruins the siding then we need new siding and shutters, etc etc etc. Soooo, it sounds like a great day for Matt right?!? HA!

Wow! So you (i.e. your insurance) are on the hook for the financial burden, not the garbage company???

No, the garbage company insurance. They were talking about renting a powerwasher themselves, but soon realized they better get this done right.
