How watching American Idol is like golfing

An often repeated golf truism is that despite a miserable day of shanks, lost balls & misjudged putts, over the course of 18 holes even the worst golfer is good for at least 1 perfect shot...and that's what brings you back to golf another day.

The same holds true with American Idol. Even after a 2-hour episode filled with mediocre renditions of pop songs you didn't like when they were originally on the radio, incoherent opinions from Ellen & all-around Seacrestness, every show's good for at least one instance when you have a strong opinion about a particular performance, and then that opinion is completely confirmed by Simon's critique...and that's what brings you back for more next week.
