2010

OK, so we're effectively half way through 2009, and what, no hype for the upcoming new decade?

I was too young in '79 to have captured any memories. But I definitely recall a lot of buzz in '89 about the '90s. And of course how could anyone forget what essentially felt like 5-years worth of preparation for the year 2000?

But no love for the '10s?

It must be a branding thing. Something felt so futuristic about the '90s. And the new millennium was so different. Compared to those 2, the '10s just sort of fall flat.

P.S.: What are we calling the next year, two-thousand and ten or twenty-ten?

I think the big buzz will happen for 2012. The end of the Mayan calendar. Yikes. :)
